About
Diagnosis PR examines the latest developments, trends and issues surrounding healthcare communications. Diagnosis PR is the voice of Racepoint Group, a global PR agency with significant expertise in healthcare public relations including medical devices, healthcare informatics and new drug therapies. We also offer our opinions on regulatory, legislative, legal and public policy issues surrounding healthcare. Visit our blog often and of course we want to hear from you! Regular contributors to Diagnosis PR are:
Dan – A 13-year healthcare PR veteran and the only person in the office who is not a Red Sox fan, Dan is the primary contact for the Diagnosis PR Blog (please no posts or messages about how bad the Yankees are this season). He is passionate about many areas of healthcare, but most specifically, he enjoys keeping up with the latest in medical device and diagnostic innovations that truly impact patient care. On a personal note, aside from obsessing about how green his lawn is, Dan enjoys spending time with family, friends and watching the world’s best television show, Lost.
Palmer – For more than a decade Palmer has worked to bring healthcare PR campaigns to life and as a blogger on Diagnosis PR he breaks down trends and recent happenings in the healthcare industry. His work in PR began right after his dream of becoming a pianist came to a screeching halt. A butchering of “Mary had a Little Lamb” followed by a chilling look of shock and awe from the 2nd grade music teacher hastened the end of this career. Palmer now leads the simple life with his wife, two cats and his black lab, Barnaby who is honorably named after a highly respected New York Times Reporter.
Sally – Healthcare and PR have always been passions for Sally, so when given the opportunity to work simultaneously on both, she jumped on it. Fast forward eight years to today where she follows current trends and hot topics in the industry. Although “self diagnosis” is a professional hazard in this industry, Sally’s promised to stick to the facts in the Diagnosis PR blog. Outside the office walls, she spends her time renovating her very old house and hanging with her family.
Shannon – As a seasoned healthcare PR practitioner (and a chronic hypochondriac), Shannon is an avid follower of all the latest developments in the healthcare industry and has a particular interest in the areas of women’s health and gender-based medicine. When she’s not researching her latest ailment, you can find her jet-setting the globe or relaxing at home watching some “quality” reality TV.
Jackie – A healthcare PR connoisseur with a passion for running and chocolate, but not at the same time, Jackie has an insatiable appetite for emerging industry innovations related to personalized medicine. In fact, some say she knows things before they happen. A former spelling bee champion, Jackie e-n-j-o-y-s traveling to exotic locales and shopping for unique trinkets for her new home.
Dana – Diagnosis PR marks Dana’s foray into healthcare blogging, and she is excited by the prospect of having another excuse to advocate on behalf of cutting-edge medical technologies that will make a difference in the lives of patients. As Racepoint’s resident rugby player and a blossoming expert in the area of interventional radiology, Dana is an enigma who charges on with these passions despite her unparalleled level of squeamishness for visual representations of body parts that have been broken, bloodied, or cut open (surgically or otherwise).
Lynda – While a newbie to the blogging arena, Lynda is no beginner to healthcare PR as she enjoys working day-to-day to increase awareness of niche medical conditions and help educate the industry in the latest breakthrough medical technology and advanced treatment options. A beach bum by day and a movie buff by night, on weekends you’ll mostly likely find Lynda reading, enjoying live music or catching up on her favorite television series, Lost.
Cheri - A relative newcomer to the healthcare PR arena, Cheri is an avid New England sports fan who enjoys bowling, cooking and therapeutic trips to the gym. She enjoys learning about ways patients can become more educated and help doctors with their jobs. Don’t be fooled by her smile or sense of humor, she’s a fierce competitor that is just as likely to sacrifice her body in the name of corporate softball as she is to challenge you to a push up contest in the office.
Anna – Having been involved in healthcare PR for over two years, Anna works in Racepoint’s London office. As well as the conventional approach to medicine, Anna is also interested in holistic approaches, including homeopathic and alternative medicines. As a German and Italian speaker, Anna is attuned to differences in health systems across Europe, and enjoys delivering campaigns that resonate with both international and national audiences. Anna keeps up with the latest Health 2.0 and Medicine 2.0 news on a daily basis, but to relax she enjoys Pilates, knitting and sewing.
Caitlin - Opting for crafts over soccer and basketball, Caitlin was an “indoor child.” But, this provided her ample time to study “weird-but-true” medical facts, a topic that remains close to her heart today. A budding foodie and religious beach walker, Caitlin prides herself as a go-to source for exercise and nutrition information, despite her well-known addiction to a certain cheese-flavored cracker and her habit of avoiding the gym during inclement weather.
Erica - Never one to keep novel and exciting news to herself, Erica is excited to combine her thirst for knowledge with her interest in healthcare PR as a DiagnosisPR blogger. A Midwest transplant, Erica hails from Ohio – and never lets anyone forget that – and enjoys the unavoidable mocking that comes with being a Cleveland fan in a Boston-based agency. Erica’s guilty pleasures include reality TV, US Weekly and J.P. Licks.
